Library

Our library was saved from the threat of closure in 2011 and is now run by a dedicated group of volunteers, with the help of Community Action Isle of Wight (Formerly The Rural Community Council) and is housed in beautiful premises owned by the National Trust in the heart of the village in North Street.

Fines Amnesty

There will be a fines amnesty on Saturday 9th February for all libraries on the Island. This is to encourage people to bring back books they may have had out for too long and help them start using their libraries again – so no fines charged for overdue books brought back on this day.

January Event

A big ‘thank you’ to all of you who came along and supported our Coffee Morning in aid of Library funds (electricity, insurance etc.). Our Library is so important to the village and we are very grateful, as we can’t do it without your help.

March Event

We will be hosting the Scottish Fiddlers again this year on Friday 1 March at 7.30pm in the Wilberforce Hall. There will be a free raffle ticket to anyone who wears tartan! Entry by ticket only available from Brighstone Community Library and The Village Newsagent.

Tickets to include tea/coffee/biscuits

£3.50 Adults;  £3.00 Concessions (Seniors and Students);  £1.50  Acommpanied children (under 16 years).  All proceeds towards Library expenses (electricity, insurance etc). For more information see www.scottishfiddlers.co.uk .
